Area Converter

Area is a derived quantity: length squared. Because both metric and customary length units exist, area units exist in both systems, and their relationship is the square of the corresponding length relationship. For example, since 1 ft = 0.3048 m exactly, 1 ft² = 0.3048² m² = 0.09290304 m² exactly.

Land measurement

Land area in agriculture and real estate is quoted differently in different countries. In the US, land is measured in acres; in most of Europe and in scientific contexts, in hectares; in the UK, both are used. An acre is slightly smaller than a hectare: 1 acre ≈ 0.4047 hectares, or about 40% of a hectare.
