What We Built

M-Convert organizes two hundred planned converters into twelve categories covering the physical quantities you meet most often in daily life, plus the more specialized units used in science, engineering, and medicine. Each converter is built on a shared conversion engine that guarantees mathematical consistency across the entire site.

Our Design Principles

Accuracy first

Every conversion factor is drawn from a primary reference — the BIPM SI Brochure, NIST Special Publication 811, IEEE 1541-2002, or CODATA 2018. Where a relationship is exact by definition (for example, 1 in = 2.54 cm), the exact value is used. Where a factor is approximate or context-dependent, that fact is stated on the page.

Privacy by design

All conversions run in your browser. No conversion input is sent to any server. There are no cookies, no third-party analytics, and no advertising. Recent conversions may be stored locally on your device using localStorage, and you can clear them at any time.

Performance as a feature

M-Convert is a static site. Every page is pre-rendered HTML with small, deferred JavaScript modules. The core conversion engine is a few kilobytes, and no third-party scripts are loaded. This makes the site fast on low-end Android devices and reliable on slow connections.

Accessibility as a baseline

The site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. All controls are keyboard-accessible, focus indicators are visible, and dynamic content is announced to assistive technologies. Color contrast meets AA standards throughout.

What M-Convert Is Not

M-Convert is a unit conversion tool. It is not a substitute for:

  • Professional engineering advice.
  • Medical advice — medical unit converters only change units; they do not diagnose or recommend.
  • Legal or regulatory interpretation — codes and standards may define units differently in specific contexts.
  • Live data — M-Convert does not fetch exchange rates, weather, or real-time feeds.

Technology

M-Convert is built on static HTML, CSS, and vanilla ES modules. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. There is no build step, no framework, and no backend.
